dream of orphans
I just woke up from a dream. There was a large building or house in a city. It was filled with orphans from around the world--El Salvador, Ethiopia, more. Children of every color and look, but most of them 3-6 years old. My old dear friends, Danny and Margaret O'Quinn of Still Creek Ranch, were in charge of the place. There were people there to help them, mostly older people and not the most competent, but still better than what the kids were used to. Kid were everywhere, just finishing up a meal or something, and Margaret was getting them lined up for singing or school or something. There were these shelves on the wall where the kids sit, crowded against each other. They were busy and happy and healthy, though crowded and understaffed. They were unadoptable for the most part because there was still a relative out in the city who wanted to be in contact with them but could not care for them. It dawned on me as I visited this place that perhaps adoptions with a degree of openness would be the solution for these kids. Perhaps the relative would allow the child to be adopted if they family would agree to send reports and pictures, and give the child a chance to know them later. Open international adoptions? a thought??

At Peace
Though this water is not still, I love this photo of my youngest. At peace with the world. exploring it. poking it. right in the midst of it. fascinated with a tiny piece of it and seemingly unaware of the glory surrounding him. I strive for this peace, this focus, in my world. I think that's how God wants us to rest in him, alert, interacting, and ready to learn and live.Monday, February 9, 2009
